Yeah I heard the same thing about vectoring, so I tried Illustrator.
Like Misa said it was really mindbending and stressful. I'm not abandoning
Illustrator (although I haven't used it since), I'm just looking for a good
tutorial that'll explain how to work the thing.
@ Kozumura you might have brought on a nuclear holocaust, but the sky falling
and the apocalypse will definitely happen if/when I finally submit another wall
*surfaces* The homework only let me escape last night .
I'm finally FREE! Never try to cram an entire 16 weeks course into 10 days - I'm
truely an idiot!
Time to dust off the much neglected Photoshop and do something not homework
related. Next mystery... just what was the last psd I was working on?
*walks away leaving a pile of cookie crumbs on once clean group floor*
@ Evo I saw your wally in the gallery, very nicely done for a uumm simple wall.
I even left a comment, I can't remember the last time I did that in MT. I've
been just a bit absent, minded that is.
I just love those types of walls there's a similar type a scan (similar
background) in the slayers gallery, which I converted into a wall but never
posted because I only extended the scan.
Well that's my contribution to the recent spam in the guestbook, oh yes and if
anyone cares I'm still alive - just currently overworked.
I hate when someone tells me the ending of something or completely ruins the
whole thing (movie, manga, book whatever!) >=0! So I just tease, that way if
someone wants to know the ending they have to work for it!
But on to better news there's some great scans currently being uploaded in MT.
Be sure to check out the great one of Kyo and Tohru, and there's other
characters as well but who really cares right
God Uni is brutal at the moment. 2000 word report + presentation after 2000 word
report + presentation, I just get started on a vector and have to do another
stressing report, its enough to put you off of anything remotely artistic. It's
a group report thingy but that just makes it even more stressful. Group of
three, geographical distance away from other group members 15km and 70km.
But luckily i've perservered with my latest vector a monochrome picture of the
Durga from Tokyo Crazy Paradise. The unfortunate Skip Beat vector was hit hard
with a report about the music industry. It was nearly a perfect K.O dedication
and artistically wise, i'll get back to it after all I still really love that
picture, just as soon as the memory of that report fades a bit.
Must get back to my vector the hair is a-calling me.
@ Evo take the DA thing as a compliment your work is appreciated, just not
ahh... here. Remember excessive consumption of lozengers has direly unpleasant
effects and nearly fatal furry tongue syndrome. Apparently certain kinds of
herbal teas are good for colds, but sleep is always the best medicine!
Has everyone read the just released scanlated chapter 136, which officially ends
the Fruits Basket saga. It's so sweet and does a great job of hinting (and more
then hinting) at what happens to Kyo in the future,*sob* *wipes tear away* it's
just so touching.
Kyo's still my lasting favourite character in FB - just as well because this is
a group dedicated to our favourite cat.
What else to say without spoiling the end of FB, nothing I guess. Kyo fans just
go read the last chapter.
I have a question, i've posted the first BW stroke version of new wall I was
considering on doing.
My question is, is this picture acceptable for the scan/picture on a walll not
just on MT but from your perspectives?
After I finished vectoring it, I realised that it contained a sort of -tastful-
frontal nudity. So before I go much further - more work on the vector has been
made since this JPG was created- is the very image acceptable.
?Is Candy-chan's message meant for us? - or more to the point is it supposed to
mean something? Uhh maybe I missed something important - if I did it's well and
truly missed now
Administrators of the group: should inactive
administrators be removed and replaced?
If replaced, via nominations and voting- or how?
I think the admins do a great job and like the rest of us poor busy members, may
need to absent themselves from MT for a little while. I think as long as they
intend to come back and the group is not totally admin-less, why remove them.
Perhaps if an admin knows that he/she can not continue to be around or
contribute to the group then perhaps PM to a fellow admin asking to be removed
would be polite.
Replacement- I think volunteering with the approval of current admin would be
acceptable. 'cause only people who know they can do the job and have the time
volunteer.
Member acceptance criteria: too high or too
low?
Member acceptance criteria is fine at the current point. After all the level
currently used has been slowly refined through discussions, complaints and
membership acceptance levels.
What do you want to see to those you feel are
too appreciated?
There is something really wrong with that sentence, but can't quite put my
finger on what is exactly wrong thou.
Do you mean the members of this group who, while being an active member,
achieves greater -ummm...- appreciation through group interaction? In that case
I think that -if they wish to- remain a member of the group and perhaps
participate in the proposed mentor scheme. Or at least offer constructive
comments to ~us~ less polished members.
Or perhaps those artists outside of the group who achieve a lot of favouritism
throught whacking a unknown -possibly ecchi- female character on a swirly
completely non-original BG and adding wings? If that's the case since they are
outside of the group the only thing possible is to leave pointed 'constructive'
comments to help them improve.
What is your definition of
appreciated?
Not the amount of counted favourites that for sure! I suppose my definition of
apreciation would be the amount of constructive, or well thought out
questions/comments left about a submitted piece of artwork. Not 'Ahh! pretty D/L
+ fav' but something that reflects that the commentor put a tiny bit of thought
into the comment before posting - or at least posted the comment after
downloading it!
Member mentoring scheme
Would you like to have a wallpaper mentor, so to speak? In other words, every
time you post up something, your mentor must comment- or, every time you are
working on a new piece of artwork, you can ask your mentor to check over it
before you submit.
Great idea! It is similar to what currently happens but the mentor scheme seems
more dependable then crossing your fingers and hoping somebody answers. Huuummmm
might take a while -and patience- to implement. If that's what the admins choose
to do, good luck!
Continuation!- Sharing Techniques and Skills
Do you think this is better in tutorial format, or would you prefer typed
instructions just in the guestbook?
Or should we archive them?
I personally prefer tutorial format sometimes pictures give that tiny bit of
extra help needed, but written instructions are just as helpful. Perhaps a plain
'for tutorials click here' link from UA to somewhere else would do the job and
clear up space in UA.
What competitions do you want to see in 2007?
Prizes? Challenges? Cross Group competitions? Continuation of the UA themes or
should they just go due to slow entries?
Any kind of activity that aims to improve group activity is great, however I
think everyone is really busy at the moment - hence the slow spot.
Perhaps a new kind of competion - different to the current one. Where perhaps
the prizes could be a double entry into a single entry comp, and exclusively
created original brush, or a request for a specific tutorial. Something that is
definitely a prize but not necessarily expensive.
Good question Evo I found a few tutorials about it but apparently they weren't
very informative as I still can't use illustrator. The stupid vector paths just
kept filling.
*tears of joy* my computer is working, really really working. Stupid RAM, I'd
want to kill it but apparently its already dead, *sigh* now its a warranty
issue.
@ Evo, cheer up, in my experience you could sleep at TAFE and as long as you get
the work done and don't snore (or drool) nobody would really mind. I mean I
spent 2 1/2 hours of a 3 hour TAFE IT class every week on the internet and still
managed to finish the course. Gotta just love internet surfing. If all else
fails peppermint tea is great for giving a non-caffiene wake-up call.
@ Misa mecha? Wow if Misa can go Mecha I guess anything's possible. When you're
finished are you going to post it here too? I think i'd really like to see
it.
Must get back to F.E.A.R - and my ongoing wallpaper(s).
I just bought F.E.A.R and Splinter Cell Chaos Theory for my computer - when I
get it back that is. It'll work or we'll kill it trying, no problem can
withstand the forces currently gathering together against that poor stubborn
machine (Me -not much help really- + 2 technicians + loads of helpful advice
from other experienced people). Die, die, die - ooops I mean work, work,
work!
Still unable to participate in comps - no computer = no wallpapers.
Hey it'd be great if somebody did a really dark wall featuring Kyo from Furuba
(*squeal*, big fan). Especially in his other form - that would still fit into
the zodiac theme wouldn't it Misa?
Hey I just heard a great story- well for the people not involved of course,
apparently my uncle's computer just stopped and he sent it to be fixed (but wait
that's not the punchline - well daaa obviously). His computer people charged him
over $100 and found 104 viruses on his system - 104. 2 killed mine. Of course he
blames his teenage son - my cousin for them ALL.
AVG huh... must go look it up. I'm using ZoneAlarm at the moment until I decide
on a new Virus thingy.
But on the bright side my photoshop now works and I didn't lose my files I was
working on. Yey! and if I ever stop freaking out about the wierd things my
computer does I might get the wall i've been working on for two computer and two
reformats nearly finished.
@Evo don't adjust the screen brightness just put on sunglasses - there my
totally irrelevant and completely unhelpful comment for the day
Honestly Evo the thought did occur to me briefly -very briefly- until I though
about how much time I spend on it and how much else there wasn't to do around
here. So now I have my computer back, hardwares is fine -my computer guy sounded
like he had fun testing everything-. The problem was my virus scanner just
rolled over and died.
*blows raspberries at Norton*
So -obviously- I'm getting a new one. What virus scanner(s) does everyone use
here?
Don't pout Evo, you might be a bit lonely but on the bright side you stand a
great chance of getting first place in your competition
Apologies on not entering the comps once again I seem to be computerless. I
caught a few bugs that were impossible to shake off, so my system drive being
delt with (=multi-reformating and installation) by an expert. He's doing it free
and in his spare time because I impressed him with the viruses I caught. Somehow
that's not really comforting. Hopefully my F drive isn't infected and I won't
lose any files I wasn't able to back up.
Geez I only just revectored the files I lost in the last computer crash.
Someone should really tell the current batch of wallers that whacking
fairy/angel wings on a female character or a female character showing her
underwear is some shape or form does NOT create an interesting wall.
HONESTLY!
Check the walls and count the winged and underwear quota.
Um....? What was I originally going to say? Oh well it couldn't have been
important. Forgetful person now leaving the building...
Everybodies still alive (always in doubt after exams), and very lively. We also
have new members welcome, welcome and new wallies for the comps.
@ Ephe if lampys' the unofficial mascot (which I fully agree with lampy's cute -
and useful!) does that mean that cookies are the unofficial snack food?
Hey I have an idea perhaps we could stick a target on lampy and hold a
competition to see whose text books are thrown closest to the bulls eye, or is
that lamp post abuse?
Sorry but I can't enter the comps at the moment. Other then the fact exams are
coming up, I don't have a computer. Unfortunately there's not much I can do to
get around that one.
So many assesement, plans, PSD's and essays to do and no computer to do them on.

I get my new ~and improved~ computer tomorrow. Yey! Then i'll have to take the
suped up machine for a test run. I'll just have to install all the games I
couldn't play before on it he, he, he.
Even better I have Friday night and the entire day Saturday to whip everything
into shape.
That's if I survive tonight exam -which I should be studying for now- darn it.
@ Ephe you sound like you need a benchmark monitoring program. I used to use a
good benchmarking program called ?, umm well I can't quite remember that it at
the moment but there is only one on the fresh devices site for the cost of a
free registration. This program will even register the speed of your CPU fan -
very informative little program.
My brothers computer has a temperature alarm that is set at 52 degrees, when
it's that hot an annoying alarm goes off, maybe you need something
similar?
But more then likely you just need to blow the dust out of your system, or take
a side off of your case for extra ventilation. Not that i'm a technical person
or anything, but that's what we do to reduce the system temperature on our
computers. Our computer really earn their living by gaming, photoshoping and
playing music until they just stop working - usually after 4-5 years. Wow typing
it like that I wouldn't want to be a computer at my house!
I've finally finished grieving over everything, all the components for the new
system will be here tomorrow (hopefully) and I've spent long hours retyping my
lost word documents and surfing the wallpaper galleries re-downloading treasured
wallpapers *cramp* *twitch*.
@ Evo thanks for the cookie I needed the sugar rush
Yep it is most definitely a lesson on the importance of backing up everything.
The most tragic thing is I did back up my stuff, on the secondary hard drive -
which the main hard drive also wrote off in it death throws. Unfortunately this
sad fact was confirmed today.
Two and a half months of collected scans and wallpapers written off, some
unsaved manga series, several important word documents, a tiny bit of music and
my last two wallpaper + vector PSD's all gone. Not a huge list -because after
all I was burning a lot frequently to DVD- but well worth crying over.
So I take back the term system upgrade and replace it with new system (just
insert an extra zero or two in the total system price tag).
My computer's DEAD. I mean seriously stone cold, spend lots of money on a new
system upgrade, DEAD. I'm just hoping that I haven't lost my documents on the
main hard drive- it would be a miracle if I still have the stuff on my second
hard drive. But since it won't read either of these at the moment -or do
anything else for that matter- hope is all I have.
But on the brighter side i'm getting a system upgrade.
Ahhh is that how many credits I have, I'm rich - well credit rich anyway. And
submitting stuff is easier now with the links in the same section, instead of
looking through half of MT for the links.
Whoops, must go and see a man about computer parts.

Like eewwww! blushing! But thanks for the tip - no blushing in sight.
The story to the picture is that Kyoko just had a revelation about something and feels like she just emerged from her coccon as a butterfly.
Lines for the currently worked-on version are coloured. The current butterfly colour scheme is brown and cream on really dark brown.
