The manga is the ultimate mirror image of the male harem story line. The main
female character Tsukushi meets many interesting and powerful guys who are
irresistible drawn to her uniquely forceful and charismatic character. Also
there is the enormously powerful and constantly dominant F4 who add emotion and
a richness to the story of Tsukushi's turbulent high school life.
I would rate the series as a 9, althought I have only seen the first stage. It
is easily in my top five animes favourites along with the classics Fruits Basket
and Full Metal Panic. I would have to disagree about the space harem comment, as
every one seems to be trying to avoid relationships with the opposite sex. I
absolutely love the opening theme Trust, often just rewatching the opening title
just to listen to it. Highly recommended, i'm surprised that there aren't more
reviews, pictures and wallpapers on this excellent series
I can't believe how great this anime was, the story is brilliantly written and
crafted, the character develops so well. The series while 40+ episodes, doesn't
seem to drag and alter the story pace. But I must agree with nuttdragon's
comment, what happened to Taiki and the king, they build the story up and
then.... nothing. Sequel anyone?
When I watched this anime I also thought of two similar anime's Ah My Goddess
(for the Belldandy's similarity to Aoi) and Love Hina (for the similarity of too
many girls living with a single lucky? guy). I thought that Ai Yori Aoshi was a
well blended medium between these two classic anime. Great review
Great review. I agree with you about so many of your points. Especially about
the slow movement of the plot. But I really liked this series and it does have
a place of pride on my DVD shelf-alongside Neon Genesis Evangelion.
When I first read what this anime was about it screamed similarities to the
non-anime 'Lord of the Flys' (required High School English reading) with girls.
However that's where the similarities end, although I haven't seen the end of it
(Vol 5-6, 6 is released in 10 days) the last volume can only provide a great
ending to a great anime. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys sci-fi
character driven anime. Lastly the ending song is one of my favourites.
Fruits Basket is my favourite anime. I'm glad somebody else agrees with me. I
can't count the times i've watched and rewatched the series. It always cheers
me up and makes me laugh. I would personally love to see a sequel, but I don't
think that will happen anytime soon or at all.

I'm glad somebody else likes it as much as I do, I'm currently rewatching it and still laughing in the same places that I laughed at before
